Bedford Film Festival Fringe - The Visitor

September 1, 2016

We are delighted to be part of Bedford Film Festival again.  This year we have chosen a film which beautifully portrays how much our lives can be enhanced by unexpected friendships with people we might not normally meet in our day to day lives.

All of our Befrienders, who visit people detained indefinitely at Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre, would say that their lives have been changed, in some or many ways for the better, as a result of the relationships they have developed there.

The Visitor follows lonely college Professor Walter Vale  as he travels to New York City to attend a conference, only to find a young couple living in his apartment. An Oscar nominated film from 2007 starring Richard Jenkins, Hiam Abbass, Haaz Sleima and Danai Qurira.

“A heartfelt human drama that sneaks up and floors you” – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

We are also running one of our regular free information sessions that evening before the film for anyone wanting to know more about Yarl’s Wood Befriends. This will take place from 7pm to 8pm. The film will start at 8.15pm.

Cash bar and free popcorn.
