Getting Involved
We are always looking to recruit new Befrienders who are able to visit Yarl’s Wood on a regular basis and would love to hear from you.
If you don’t think visiting is quite for you, there may be other ways you can help out. We do not have any particular roles in mind at present but if you have any skills or ideas you’d like to offer, please contact us and we will see if we can put them to good use.
If you are not local to Bedford, there may be an Immigration Removal Centre near you where you can get involved. Try looking at our Links page to see if there is one nearby.
Donations of clothing, toiletries and other small gifts are always very gratefully received. These can be brought to our office, or there is now a facility for donating clothes directly inside the Visitor’s Centre at Yarl’s Wood.
We have a small fund to support destitute women when they leave Yarl’s Wood, whether they’re being released into temporary accomodation or being returned to their country of origin. We rely on personal donations and fundraising activities to keep this topped up, so if you’d like to make a donation or you’re thinking of holding a fundraising event, please get in touch via our Contact page.
You can also donate to us online by following this link:
And you can now even make a donation from your mobile phone, up to a value of £10:
